There's a tree in the house. Why is there a tree in the house?

Some sort of holiday, I assume, but I'm pretty certain that none of the holidays of this world are like the holidays of my own. I've tried my hardest to figure out what this particular one means, based on the decorations alone, but so far my best guess is that we're to give gifts to some kind of... tree spirit. Why else leave gifts beneath a tree, right?

Mm, I doubt that's the case, though.

Could someone explain what's really going on? Please?

It's been something of a pattern, I've heard. I was not here for last Christmas, but it was evidently not a pleasant experience.

Well, it... can't possibly be true, but I heard that everyone was taken forward ten years into the future of this town.

Ten years? It... it does sound impossible, but I'm almost inclined to believe it.

But if we believe it, then we must also believe that we will be trapped in this place for at least another ten years.

If you believe that, then you believe that the future is set in stone. I don't believe it is.

Everything about this place is a lie, and I think that goes for any "future" it shows us.

...Fate is a tricky matter, isn't it? [her voice drops to something more sullen.] I find that this place has challenged my view on it.

Mm. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Perhaps not every little thing here, but being here, as a whole, has a purpose.
