Grady- Olney- whoever he was- is dead. I know some of you won't be surprised by the news. It was broadcast to the town at large, after all. Others have likely mentioned it as well.

He was found floating in the pool at the recreation center- which some of likely already know as well. Half of his face had been blown off, but he was still alive- for all intents and purposes. I gather he wasn't allowed to die. I wasn't the first person to run across him, and I doubt I was the last.

He wouldn't tell me anything, but did he share anything with anyone else? Anything at all.

B: ACTION: 754 PARTRIDGE DRIVE

[ Anyone in the vicinity of 754 Partridge Drive will notice something a little strange in the backyard. Ian got a regain in the mail, you see, and when he opened the package he got, this suddenly sprouted from the top of the doghouse.

Ian can be seen traveling up and down the mast all day, for various reasons. At one point he travels up there with a large wad of black cloth. A little tinkering, and soon there's a flag flying proud, peeking over the top of the house. ]

A little bit, yeah. Makes me wonder if that's why they had me in the same house with Annie now that you mention it.

Annie? I don't think I know her.

Fluffy, curly brown hair, big green eyes. She's a werewolf.

No. [She shakes her head.]

I guess Mayfield really does take all types.

Sounds like it, especially if they have people who sound like they're straight out of mythology, comic books and video games.

Comic books. They're books that are mostly illustrations with a little bit of text for narration or speech. I'll see if I can find some to show you. They can be really over the top.

They sound entertaining at least.

... You know, this isn't getting you up there. [ he jerks his head, indicating the crow's nest ]

They are, when they don't keep rewriting the same stories every ten years.

[Uwaa! Caught! Mika makes a startled sound, balking at the height of the mast.]

You really don't have to go if you don't want to.

I do, it's just getting up there that's the hard part.

[Auuuuuuu...]

Well, I really don't want to have to fling you over my shoulder, so... hop on my back.

I would prefer not to be tossed over your shoulder, thank you.

[She huffs, looking a little indignant for a moment before she nods.]

Okay.

[ He turns around, crouching slightly, even if they are the same height ]

Arms around my shoulders, legs around my waist. You should get a lovely view of the back of my head on the way up.

Well if nothing else I could bite your ear to get your attention.

[She grins, trying to be careful as she climbs on because she's so used to being a klutz and hurting herself by accident. When she feels like she's settled, she huffs against his shoulder.]

All set!

You do and I'll drop you.

[ He stands and sets about climbing back up. True enough, he seems to haul her around fairly easily, but he's still being careful. ]

You're lucky I'm good at this.

Not even a little play-bite?

[Her grin isn't as effective without a mouthful of fangs, but she hardly means it.]

You're lucky I trust you.

Not even that. [ he's grinning as well, though it's likely hard to tell from where she's at. ]

... I don't think we'd be doing this otherwise.

No, probably not. Either that or you'd have claw marks on you by now.

Despite me not having claws anymore.

You'll get them back eventually, I'm sure. I just got this in the mail today.

And I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the fact that you have a mast sprouting out of your dog house.

Then again I'm still trying to wrap my head around you living in a dog house. That seems so offensive to me. Like, second-hand offended.

If this is any indication, it's likely I'll be seeing more and more of my ship in the future. Then I won't even have to worry about the dog house.

[ he's made it to the top, and climbs over the railing, settling into the crow's nest ] We're here. You can let go now.

If you get your whole ship, isn't it going to take over the yard? There isn't even any water around, what good's a ship without water?

[Mika is a bit hesitant at first, then settles herself into the crow's nest and peers out over the rails. This is a big step for her. Yes she is afraid to stand up right now.]
