Well, you can dry meat easily enough, or cure it to keep it from going bad quickly. And there's pickling, jarring, and the like. There are some fruits and vegetables we just keep around and hope they don't go bad before we can eat them.

If you're really lucky, you can keep things frozen because you know someone who can Wield ice.
